IAHPEDS Fellow Requirements
Applicants wanting to be considered for the honor of IAHPEDS Fellow will submit a current CV, completed application, and recommendation of 2 IAHPEDS members with a minimum of 5 years membership for consideration to be an IAHPEDS Fellow. Applications will be reviewed by a committee of at least 5 current Fellows and/or IAHPEDS officers to determine if the applicant meets requirements and will receive the IAHPEDS Fellow honor. Applicants must receive a majority of reviewer votes for selection.
- Membership- Applicant must have been a member of IAHPEDS for at least 5 consecutive years without lapse.
- Professional Experience- Applicant must document a minimum of 10 consecutive years of experience working in the fields of Health, Physical Education, Dance, or Sport. (provided by CV). "Commitment to the goals and long-range activities of the College" is defined as well-rounded, meritorious service to IAHPEDS, with service to one’s Regional Chapter also being highly desirable. The minimal criteria for service to IAHPEDS can be met by a combination of the items listed. Service to IAHPEDS In the event that a candidate does not have commendable service to IAHPEDS, exceptional service to the broader community may be considered.
- Education- Shall have earned a doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited university in areas related to Health, Physical Education, Kinesiology, Dance, Sport, or Sport Management. (provided by CV). Shall have earned a diploma from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields: Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy, Doctor of Dental Surgery, Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Education, Doctor of Physical Education, Doctor of Public Health or an equivalent. The intention of this requirement to be inclusive of other terminal degrees of equivalent education as those listed (i.e., other terminal degrees such as D.H.Sc., Sc.D., D.C., D.P.T., etc.)
- IAHPEDS Scholarly Participation- Shall have attended at least 3 IAHPEDS professional meetings (World Congress, Roundtable, Summit, Regional World Congress) in the last 5 years and made at least 3 scholarly presentations (oral presentation and/or poster presentation) in the last 5 years. - Scholarship- Please read the definitions for both tracts and apply to the one best suited to you.
Research/Scholar Tract: The applicant will have a minimum of at least 5 peer reviewed manuscripts from recognized journals during their career. Reviewers will determine the validity and importance of the publications to the fields of Health, Physical Education, Dance, and Sport. The applicant must be the lead author on at least 3 of the publications. (provided by CV and links to these)
Practitioner Tract: At least 5 presentations at International, National or State conferences and or at least 5 training manuscripts/ projects that have been implemented (at the state or national level); 5 directed programs/concerts that have been performed; or 5 choreographed pieces that have been presented/performed at the International/ National level or a combination of these activities and academic/reviewed scholarly presentations/manuscripts as the lead author. - Service to IAHPEDS- Applicant must have served as an IAHPEDS Officer or on an IAHPEDS Committee for at least 4 years.
- Requirements can be amended upon IAHPEDS annual review, at the discretion of the fellowship committee.
- First fellows will be announced at the 2026 World Congress.
