Theme: Fostering Well-being through Innovative Approaches


July 5: Pre-WC Workshop: “Lesson Study,” including observations at a local elementary school and lunch included. Additional workshops included in the price are aerobics, games teaching and tech in PE. $30 USD  

    Opening Ceremony and reception starting at 6:00 PM

July 6: In-person oral, symposia and poster presentations

July 7: In-person oral, symposia and poster presentations/dinner at night

July 8: Virtual/Zoom presentations and closing ceremony

Tentative Schedule

July 9: Optional excursion: A day trip hike at Mount Fuji. 

Excursion is limited to 45 people and you must book before April 20, so do so soon. Payment will be in Japanese Yen, Y8,000/person, roughly $55 depending on exchange rate of the day. You will have to register for an account on the Peatix site/app. Click the link below.

Presenter registration deadline EXTENDED UNTIL 1 May 2024. Presenters however must pay the higher, regular registration rate.

Information regarding Poster Presentations: Plan your poster presentation to fit on a 4 x 6 foot hardboard.

Recommended size "A0 (1189 mm wide x 841 mm high)" or "48 inches wide x 36 inches high." Important information should be readable from approximately 10 feet away. Use bullets, numbering, and headings for ease of reading.Use graphics, colors, and fonts effectively.

Proceedings manuscript deadline extension till 31 May 2024. The local organizing committee will post the guidelines/template for the manuscripts here on this website within a few days. Submission of manuscript and any questions related to this should be sent to Dr. Walter Ho at:

Japanese elementary, middle, and high school teachers who want to present in Japanese can apply through this website.



The IAHPEDS Board of Directors and the Tokyo Organizing Committee have worked hard to make this WC affordable. The initial requirement is that all attendees must have current or new IAHPEDS membership. For all professionals, the price is $40 for one year. (All prices are in US dollars). Student membership is $20. (Use this link to join IAHPEDS or renew your membership.)

For WC registration, we will have a three-tiered system of payment depending on whether an attendee is from a high-, middle- or low-income country of residence. See this webpage for a country breakdown.

The Hotel Mets agreed to set aside rooms for our participants at a discounted/corporate rate. All of these rooms have now been reserved so if anyone wants to stay at this hotel, they will have to book/reserve a room on an online travel website. 


Is July a good time to visit Tokyo?
Yes, it is! If you're a fan of Japanese festivals, July is a perfect month to visit Tokyo. From Tanabata Matsuri celebrations at the start of the month, to the breathtaking Sumidagawa River Fireworks Festival in late July, there are great memories to be made throughout the month.

The average temperature in Tokyo in July is 25.7ºC (78.3°F), and it rarely drops below 20ºC (68°F). You will likely experience some rainy days, especially in early and mid-July. Make sure to bring breathable clothes that you can feel comfortable in.
