IAHPEDS World Congress 2020 has been postponed until July 2021

The 2021 IAHPEDS World Congress will be held in San Antonio, Texas from July 29-31. The conference hotel will be the San Antonio Hilton Airport Hotel. (The link for hotel registration is toward the bottom of this page and will be activated in November 2020. The Hilton registration must be done by June 21, 2021 to get the very affordable rate.) World Congress professional registration fee will be $150, with a student fee of $50 and an accompanying person fee of $50.

Featured Speakers

Dr. Bonnie Edmondson is an associate professor and graduate coordinator of the School Health Education Program at Southern Connecticut State University. She also is a two-time national champion and former world ranked hammer thrower who served as the 2016 Olympic women’s throwing events coach for Team USA in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and most recently as the Head Coach of the USATF Women’s IAAF World Championship Track and Field Team in Doha, Qatar. In her presentation, Dr. Edmondson will share lessons learned from champions in the field on characteristics of high performing teams and addressing the health and well-being of students.

Michelle Grenier, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized expert in the field of inclusion and adapted physical education. She served as editor for two Human Kinetics publications entitled Physical Education for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders: A Comprehensive Approach and Physical Education for Students with Moderate to Severe Disabilities and is co-author of the text Universal Design for Learning in Physical Education (2020). As an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of New Hampshire, she oversees the adapted physical education program at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Health and Physical Education. Dr. Grenier is the APE chair for the New Hampshire Association of Health and Physical Education and is President-Elect of the National Consortium of Physical Education for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPEID). Her talk will focus on universal design for teacher planning and student learning.

Dr. Tarin T. Hampton was the recipient of the Ethnic Minority Award from Southern District SHAPE America, 2015, Global Dance Educator of the Year Award recipient from the National Dance Society, 2016, the College/University Dance Teacher of the Year Award recipient from the Virginia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (VAHPERD) 2019. She was invited on Sabbatical to the University of Cape Coast in Ghana, West Africa, to collaboratively start the Dance Major within the College of Arts and Sciences. She was also the recipient of a Fulbright Hayes Scholarship to Morocco and Tunisia and a second Fulbright Hayes Scholarship to Ghana, West Africa. Tarin is currently a Full Professor and Department Chair for Health, Physical Education and Exercise Science at Norfolk State University (NSU), and Artistic Director of the NSU Dance Theatre.

Ray Rodriguez is a graduate of the University of the Incarnate Word with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Nutrition. He is the Co-Owner of the Ultimate Submission Academy which is a Jiu Jitsu/MMA Academy located on the southside of San Antonio, Texas. He is a six-year Army veteran who devoted the last three years of his Army service to teaching the Modern Army Combatives Program (MACP) to soldiers preparing to deploy overseas. He is a black belt in and has studied Jiu Jitsu for over 12 years. He has been a professional MMA fighter since 2012 with a record of 16 wins and 6 losses and is currently the 5th ranked professional bantamweight MMA fighter in the United States. He has fought for several different MMA promotions including the UFC. His philosophy is to try to and improve one percent every day to develop a strong work ethic and create a championship mentality.

We have taken care to make this WC as affordable as possible. Registration fees for the three-day event will be US$150 for professionals, $50 for students and $50 for accompanying persons. These prices are for IAHPEDS members. There will be an additional cost for non-members of US$40 for professionals, and $20 for students for a one year IAHPEDS membership.
